On 22 October, consortium partners from University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), and UiT The Arctic University of Norway (UiT) participated in a virtual workshop following the COAST kick-off celebration the previous day.

The two focuses of the workshop were to address ‘Student engagement in COAST for the next five years’ and ‘Creating a common baseline of the research design.

The program started with all partner institutions sharing the status of Focus Areas. Guest speaker Pål Isdahl Solberg from the Department of Education at USN introduced ‘Models and examples of student engagement in the national and European context’ followed by a discussion among students, teachers and Focus Area leaders.

The workshop was conducted virtually due to the pandemic, and included group activities, brainstorming sessions and focus group discussions among participants to create a common baseline for the research design. Pedagogy expert at USN, Astrid Camilla Wiig chaired the sessions and led the follow-up work related to this workshop.
