The scientific leader of COAST participated in a virtual “Research Talk” on 25th June arranged by the Marine Institute at the School of Maritime Studies at the Memorial University, Newfoundland, Canada. Distinguished Researchers from different backgrounds attended the hour-long discussion about the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in Maritime Training and Assessment. The role of COAST and Norwegian academia in this field of research has been focused on along with the potential collaboration with Canadian counterparts.
COAST also participated in another event anchored in the Seafarers Day celebration at the Batumi State Maritime Academy, Georgia on 26th June being invited by the Rector of that institution. There too, Prof. Nazir delivered a short presentation about the use of Virtual Reality in Maritime Education, Training and Assessment which sparked a lot of interest among the participants.
COAST continues to disseminate and collaborate with the international community enabling researchers to access specific expertise and gain new perspectives on research as well as to build relationships with other researchers in the maritime field.
