Exchanging state-of-the-art practices with the maritime industry

On 19th May, Christen Vagle, learning and competency manager of SBM Offshore visited the USN campus at Bakkenteigen to discuss the latest development in the ongoing projects as well as potential collaboration opportunities. SBM Offshore has been partnering with the Training and Assessment Research Group (TARG) and the Centre of Excellence in Maritime Simulator Training and Assessment (COAST) on reciprocal areas of interest. Further collaboration on sharing assessment methods and data collection were discussed. The extended use of emerging tools and technologies, i.e., Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) in simulator training and assessment was one of the main focal points in the discussion. Professor Salman Nazir and Associate Professor Steven Mallam represented COAST and TARG respectively. Both parties agreed on facilitating openness and positivity towards a sustainable partnership between SBM offshore and USN projects.
